WATER CISTERN WITH ORIGINAL BASIN ENGLISH POTTERY C1775

Dated: c. 1775 Staffordshire or Yorkshire England

A very rare water cistern with original basin probably Staffordshire.
The cistern has a flat back and was intended to hang on a wall. It would have been supported on two horizontal protruding spikes that fitted into the pottery sockets.
The basin is undamaged, the cistern has a strong museum stabalising repair at the back, there is a chip to the inner rim at the back of the cover.None of these points detract from the appearance of the set. The cistern stands 18.75 inches the basin is 15.5 x15.5 x3 inches.
