NOTTINGHAM STONEWARE SALT GLAZE ALE JUG INSCRIBED WITH CROWN AND G3R ( King George 111)

A fine Nottingham stoneware saltglaze ale jug with a lusterous glaze with decorative mottling.
The jug is incised with a crown and the inscription "G3R" representing King George Rex who was crowned in 1760.
The well applied rounded handle features rouletted and incised decoration. There are three kiln support marks under the base.
A similar jug is located in the Nottingham Museum and is incised with the date of 1765.
