Mid 18thc cutlery box with two complete sets of agateware pottery knives and forks in the manner of Whieldon Staffordshire.

Two sets of agateware variagated clay knives and forks with pistol grip handles in the Whieldon manner.
Both sets are miraculously complete and housed in their original cutlery shagreen covered box.
The box has a brass lock plate and fittings.A very rare survivor from the mid 18th century.
The Sheffield steel pieces are impressed with a "Smokers Pipe" device which was registered at the Company of Cutlers by William Birks in 1748 .

Medium: agateware variagated clay pottery lead glaze

Current Condition 4 handles with minor good professional restoration.
