Large early earthenware Leeds Pottery figure of a standing horse on base c1810

A very rare and imposing Leeds Pottery Horse modeled standing on an oblong base.
The figure dates to circa 1810-20 period. Historically it is summized that these large figures were intended to be used as an advertising medium in Saddlers and Tack stores.
This figure which has original cold painted decoration tends to confirm this.The provenance stems from a family of Saddlers- Leather business which was based in Hunslet just outside Leeds.This figure lodged with the same family for over 150 years.

Current Condition Two tight old hairlines at two legs and ears restored.

Provenance: From a letter from the family:
"This horse was in my family for approx 160 years it was my great grandfathers then my grandmothers my mothers then mine it has had no restoration to its legs/ feet, ie thin cracks(at two legs) the only restoration was its ears they were knocked off one night nearly 100years ago when a great uncle came in drunk waving a walking stick about and knocked them off".
