A relief moulded pitcher titled "Fair Hebe" with enamel decoration and pearlware glaze.
Hebe the fair one is profered a birds nest by an ardent admirer.The reverse of the pitcher shows a farm boy with goblet in hand and a hound begging for attention, the scroll above the figure reads "A Bumper" referring to the harvest crop. The inside rim is decorated with trailing vines and leaves.
The base of the jug is impressed WOOD a mark relating to the Ralph Wood Pottery in Staffordshire.
The Wood family of potters appears to have employed Jean Voyez (c. 1740–to 1791),Fair Hebe is one of his most famous works.
