A fine English creamware pottery pitcher profusely decorated with naively painted rural scenes with farm animals and buildings. Significantly this large scale example is dated 1785 and bears the initials AS.
The detailed enamel coloured painting is full of interest featuring a chicken, dog , wheelbarrow, a seated figure outside the farmhouse and an imposing figure of a bull.
This rare pitcher is probably the work of the famous Leeds Pottery yorkshire
