A massive pottery presentation pitcher bearing the name Robert Long over a wonderfully painted armorial related to the leather trade under which is the legend " Success to the Leather Trade" and dated 1819. The two hand painted side panels depict Rural sporting scenes of hare coursing and a fox hunt. The spout and border are beautifully and elaborately decorated with scrolls and a myriad of colours. Interestingly and significantly the base is marked in script BRISTOL POTTERY also with the monogram WF pinxt the mark of William Fifield the most famous decorator at the works.
