Antique Staffordshire Prattware pottery bear cub on base early 19th century

Dated: c. 1800 to c. 1810 Staffordshire England
Rare unrecorded figure of a bear cub modeled muzzled and tethered with a metal chain on a green base. The figure is a significant size and is strongly decorated in pratt colours.
Bear baiting was a popular "entertainment" from Elizabethan times until it was banned in England in 1835.
The figure is an exceptional piece and reflects the artistic expertise of the Staffordshire potters.
