Antique Staffordshire pottery saltglaze teapot relief decorated in blue with shells foliage and birds mid 18th century

A fine and rare saltglaze relief modelled teapot of small proportions decorated with pectin motifs with birds and foliage in blue. The teapot finial is in the form of a beast with tail possibly a dragon. The diamond form of the piece is especially appealing and dates circa 1745 period Staffordshire England. The diminutive shape relates to the significant expense of tea in the period.
