Antique Scottish pottery figure of a bird in the form of a money bank.

Reference: 2023

Dated: c. 1830 Scotland

Antique pottery figure of a bird in the form of a money box bank.
The figure is naively modelled and decorated in underglaze colours with a profusion of blues and browns. The wattle of the bird is coulered red maroon a very distinctive feature of much of the wares from Scottish potters. Many of the earthenware money boxes were destroyed when extracting the cash within rendering this piece a rare and interesting survivor.

Dimensions: 7.25 inch high
