A good antique English pottery money box in the form of a Methodist Chapel which is still standing in the Yorkshire town of Mexborough. The money box bears the inscription SAVING BANK.
This fine and well modelled example would have been made in the 1840 decade.
Such money boxes were often presented as gifts.
