Antique English pottery figure of Wellington circa 1810
Reference: 7031
Dated: c. 1810 Private English Collection
Antique English pottery figure of Wellington.
This figure was originally modelled by Pierre Stephan whilst working for the Derby Porcelain Factory. There are several variations of this figure and this is another unrecorded example which can be added to the list. Interestingly the colours used in the decoration of this figure indicate a Scottish or North East England pottery attribution.
We must thank Myrna Schkolne for locating a marked (WELLINGTON) example of this figure in the Stoke on Trent Staffordshire Museum.
